   Vreni Barilier
Vreni Barilier is a passionate painter. She explores, experiments on and on new combinations of materials, textures, various effects, spread all over the picturesque fields, unctuous to the touch of acrylic or oils, sometimes punctuated with a subtle mixing of both.

The artist observes, paints, repaints, amalgamates, confronts, tempts new assemblages, covers totally or partially the surface of the canvas, pays carefully attention to what happens and, with sparkling eyes, sometimes amazed by fortuitous results, far beyond expectation, she gets very excited.

In the reverse situation, if she is not satisfied, without hesitation she plunges again into work, superposes the coats which spread out, melt, express harmony, opposition, play with the limits, stopping suddenly, in reach of their utmost point. With curiosity, the artist watches the drying of the colours, analyses the combination of the obtained forms and non-forms with, as a source of inspiration, the multiple aspects of nature, the barks, the trunks of the trees, the foliages, the weeds in the wind, in the richness of her Payerne countryside, she coasts and strides along as much as she wishes.

Since a few years, Vreni Barilier is also passionate with rust, recuperating various objects which, exposed to the weather, change and get this marvellous red-brown colour, characteristic of the corroded iron. And, like a true alchemist, she uses rusted particles, asphalt, sand or other ingredients, she integrates in the picturesque fields which, at the end, weave and trace an adventures sprinkled with questions and astonishments. Rich, deep, meditative and attaching works.

Vreni Barilier lives and works in Payerne. She exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad, in group or individually. In 2005, award of Public and Montmartre, at the occasion of a group exhibition at the European Academy of Arts in Paris; in Grembloux (Belgium), gold medal in 2006. The city of Payerne acquires one of her works in 2012. Vreni Barilier teaches painting in her studio.
